Mirror Moves Event with Girls Forward and Aerie Real Foundation Shows Girls What Self-Compassion Means

What does it mean to learn about the magic of self compassion? It can be life-changing, especially for young women. We were so excited to host MIRROR MOVES with the Mirror Diaries series by Vanessa Coulbeck alongside of Girls Forward and the Aerie Real Foundation at MLSE Launchpad in downtown Toronto.

50 girls joined us for an amazing night of discussion about self-compassion and body image, crafts and movement, from basketball to yoga. The girls had great chats with author and body image researcher Vanessa Coulbeck, moved in different ways—including such a fun track session with our Olympian author Micha Powell—and of course, as every event should, it ended with a pizza party. And every girl went home with a free copy of the book plus some fun extras like a ‘I am a limited edition’ backpack. It was truly an amazing night!

From Girls Forward’s  Senior Fund Development ManagerJennifer Piasecki:  ”The Mirror Moves event was an inspiring, welcoming, and inclusive event that had elements of movement and connection blended with a book club feel. The focus was on highlighting the girls and teaching them the power of confidence and self-compassion. The girls were also able to interact and connect with the author of The Mirror Diaries: Finding Grace, Vanessa Coulbeck. It was a great event and a reminder that we need more events like The Mirror Moves event!"

Should we do it again?!
