Strong Storytelling for Athletes
USE CODE EARLYBIRD FOR $100USD OFF THROUGH 12/3
Everyone has a story, and if you’re ready to tell yours, this writing course is for you. Specifically tailored to athletes—and yes, if you do any sport at any level, you are an athlete!—this course won’t just teach you how to develop a narrative arc for your memoir or novel, it will help you gain clarity in your athletic life. Whether you approach it like journaling on (legal) steroids as a way to get to know yourself better and improve your relationship with sport or you are ready to share that memoir or novel with the world or you’re trying to improve your ability to craft captions and give authentic interviews that attract sponsors and fans as a pro athlete, this eight-week live course will help you cross the finish line.
You’ll learn how to craft the story of your athletics in a way that cuts to the “why” and connects with readers. Each week, you’ll talk with other writer/athletes, workshop your ideas and your drafts, and finally break through those blocks. Can’t make a week? No problem—every session will be recorded, and there will be PDF worksheets, prompts and yes, homework.
You’ll gain insights into yourself as well as the publishing world, and at the end of the course, you’ll be on your way to confidently sharing your story.
No matter your sport, no matter your genre, this course is for you. Hosted by Molly Hurford of Strong Girl Publishing and Carolyne Whelan of Forward Motion Writing, we will give you the tools to understand narrative arc, find your story, and get writing.
Who is this workshop for?
Athletes of any age who want to learn how to use their experiences in sports as inspiration in crafting compelling writing. Whether you’re hoping to improve your ability to visualize your in-race outcome by writing out your ideal scenario, or you’re a pro who’s trying to craft stronger and more compelling Instagram captions, or you’ve been dreaming of writing that memoir or novel, this workshop will get you started!
