Arielle Christensen is a Mountain Biking, Cyclocrossing Shred Girl IRL

Arielle Christensen loves mountain biking and cyclocross. She’s taken 1st and 2nd in the WORS (Wisconsin Off-Road Series) series, 1st place in the Wisconsin CX series two years in a row, and recently took 2nd in her age group in the Borah Epic (half epic). Arielle also runs track and cross country. How does she do it all? We asked her a few questions to find out. I love that her goals aren’t about winning races, they’re about getting better and stronger. SO smart!

Why did you start riding bikes?

When I was 9 years old, my dad took me to a Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) race. I knew right away I wanted to do this.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part about biking is the adrenaline rush I get doing it and the feeling of accomplishment afterward.

What was the hardest part?

What made you choose to focus on MTB and CX? What was so much fun about each sport?

Both MTB and CX allow me to show off my technical skills while strengthening them every time. The best part of MTB is the thrill of the single track. The best part of CX is the fun and welcoming environment.

What was the best tip or trick you’ve ever been told?

The best tip I have ever been given is from my dad; he told me to not give up.

Proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment would have to be my 2nd place girls 12-14 finish at the Borah Epic because I was having doubts in my capabilities.

Goals in cycling?

My main goal is to get bet better and better.

Advice for younger girls interested in riding?

My advice to young girls is to go out there and try.

How do you balance running with riding?

When I go to work out, I switch those two activities so that I stay on top of both.

Any tips for making friends in cycling?

When you’re out there try to start conversations with people.
